My favorite line from the thread is “he won’t get real NBA minutes”

he unfortunately seems to be our best backup pg option when fully healthy but I still stand by what I said in that thread lmao.

I hereby coin him “Scrappy Doo”, because he’s tiny and scrappy as they come. GREAT show from him last night!

I mean, I certainly didn’t believe he’d get any meaningful minutes. The thing is: it’s not like we had a fully healthy slate of players to run point and he outplayed them all and it was like “Okay, we can’t deny him.” It was basically a choice between putting him or Snaq at the point (I bet Kenny can run it, too).

I really need Vernon and Roser to give Gilyard some flowers. They made some “is Jenkins even trying to win the game” comments when he got subbed in a few games ago and he’s been playing well and with heart. He might only ever be a 3rd stringer but he deserves some more respect.

“All heart. Grit, Grind” for real.

I don’t blame anyone saying he won’t get any nba minutes cus he’s short as hell and sometimes guys who do well in g-league perform poorly in the nba (laravia). That said, i love this dude and hope he plays over rose tbh

I mean, that thread is calling out his passing, and that pass that lead to the Clarkson steal down the stretch was horrendous. I think Gilyard could be a serviceable backup, but he’s not elusive enough or freaky athletic to overcome the height disparity, and that means he has a very small margin for error.

If he had elite handles to go along with his ability to disrupt passing lanes then I’d say he could be a rotation piece, but right now he’s just our best option at a thin position.
