So I feel like when it comes to EVs, everyone is super fixated on reliability = battery life . From what we’ve seen tho, batteries are actually one of the least problematic parts of an EV and there are definitely other things that have a higher probability of breaking down that could still be costly like the AC system and etc.

I wanna know how’s your non-battery reliability been and if you’ve had any particular non-battery issues with a certain model.

My Tesla was terrible. Many trips to the service center and scheduling that was a nightmare. Often multiple weeks wait. I’ve posted it on here before, but my major problems were:

    1. The suspension. Lower front control arms failed three times. Completely unacceptable.

    2. HVAC system failed. Tesla tried to be cute and use a secondary blower to aim the air instead is a movable vent. Well that secondary blower failed right after the warranty was up ( around 1000 miles after). I sold the car when they told me it would be a couple thousand to fix

    3. The screen needed to be reset at least once a week because it would freeze or go blank while I was driving. One time, while I was on an interstate trip, it went into some reset cycle and wouldn’t stay on for more than a minute. This was 11:00 PM in the middle of nowhere North Carolina. Took 90 minutes in the phone with Tesla service to fix.

    4. Many many creaks and rattles that I was told were “normal”. Doesn’t exactly give you warm fuzzies that the car will last

EDIT: I have a BMW i4 now and it’s been perfect, but it’s only 2000 miles in so that’s not a good assessment

2023 Model Y and the car gas been perfect!

Tesla has added multiple features via OTA updates since I bought it. My favorite is the configurable scroll wheel. The larger fonts were nice too.

2020 Model Y. Approaching 50k miles. Some minor panel fitment issues resolved under warranty in the beginning of ownership. Just replaced tires. Range is currently sitting at around 310mi (330mi originally). I did accidentally ding my liftgate but otherwise no issues. Overall I’m really happy with my car and would definitely buy another if I had to.

I have the Y Performance (2020) - 80,000 kms - incredible vehicle!! Can’t say enough about it. Drives incredibly well, way faster than my Audi S4 stick, 0-60 feels like a coaster 🎢. Sensors go, $0. Tires is all. Brakes never because regen system.

S Plaid 2021 - I had this as well for a year and a half is a bit of an impulsive purchase and it is incredible, makes a 911 look silly and the acceleration starting from 100 km up is = torque vs 0-100 👹.

I had no problems with my plaid, except that the steering yoke material wore out which they replaced for free. This thing was a horse that literally would not quit. I put kids in the back doing accelerations nonstop for hours, and it was like the thing had zero fatigue. Only I had fatigue from my brain melting.
