I have the original steam deck 512gb model and as much as I like it because I can play fps shooters like killing floor 2, spiderman and lost sphear as an mmorpg turn based, I was wondering if it is worth upgrading to the steam deck OLED that will be released November 16th.

I only have 5 or 6 games that took up about 300 gb of my total of 448 gb of storage that was initially installed after software updates and game DLC downloads. I’m left with a good 100 gb or so. I don’t know if I should upgrade to the oled limited edition or 1tb oled model or it would be a waste of money considering that the original steam deck although worse in battery life and screen quality/quantity justifies a significant pleasant upgrade to having the original. I have looked at reviews and although the battery life went from absolute dogs*** to just crap, I don’t think a 2 hour on best settings for a triple a is really all that great. Heck, I even get 4 hours on the nintendo switch oled and that screen is as good if not better than this upcoming steam deck upgrade and for cheaper although the game selection is worse in quantity.

Now, I’m looking at a lenovo legion go, but retrocorps says that system is a problem, especially in software, but what’s worse about it is the ergonomics. The jagged corners of the controls is bothersome and although I like a large screen, the ayaneo kun caught my eye. That other monstrosity is over 1000$ and comes from an unknown reliable brand that always gives out new products every few months or so. It has amazing specs but again, problems with efficiency.

When you narrow it down further, the rog ally software is complicated and I don’t like it’s ergonomics. So when it came down to the best, easy and most fun to use as an overall handheld, I’m looking at the steam deck oled. The performance is marignally better and it doesnt appear to be significantly better than the predecessor. The screen should be no bezels and a large 9 inch screen which it is not. I feel the system although big, needs to have larger hand controllers and there are so many things I would change on it. I’m on the fence about it and was wondering what opinions you might have if you are in the same situation as me.
