Dear fellow SD users,

A trivial, point-blank question. Are you going to upgrade?

As I have the (former) top-of-the-line and non-modded model, I wonder if the improvements of the OLED version justify the price. I believe they do, especially in the long run. What’s your take? Will you hold on what you have or bite the bullet?

Thanks for your replies :)

To tell you the truth syrius nope I don’t see ant compelling reason to upgrade my deck to the OLED it’s like the switch oled sure it’s new and shiny but it’s the same components and better battery life paired with an OLED screen but that’s it for a first time buyer sure but for people who already have a deck nope it’s not worth the upgrade

Not upgrading but buying one despite already owning an aya neo 2021. Best case scenario, I love it and keep it. Worst case scenario, I realize I don’t need it and trade it for a PS5 or a quest 3.

Nah. I mean I’d love the upgrade, but it’s just too frivolous for me right now. I didn’t upgrade to the switch oled either although again I’d love one. I like that Valve have improved their offering without obsoleting our OG Decks. I’m happy to wait for SD 2.

Def don’t need it, def want it bc I know I use my deck a lot. I think I’m selling my current 512gb deck (that’s only a few months old) to a buddy of mine if I’m able to secure the OLED version. Also never had OLED anything other than a TV so I’m super excited to see games on it w/o breaking the bank on a crazy monitor for my PC.

I had SD but sold it as I couldn’t get over its terrible screen. But now I’m probably gonna try it. If it had +50% performance + VRR it would be a no brainer

Yes, for sure. Already sold my 256gb one for $280 lol. I’ve got an oled phone, TV, and laptop. The difference between non oled screens and oled ones is vaaastly different. Especially between the new and old Deck cause the LCD screen it used was pretty low quality. And on top of that, you get a 90hz screen, longer battery life, lower temps (leading to slightly better performance), and a new warranty period? Yup I’m going to upgrade!!!

Yeah I’m going for the 512GB version. I already got a 1TB SD Card, plenty of storage since I have gigabit Internet.

Not getting the top model this time around

Yes, 2 days after my birthday, so I’m going to treat myself.

Sell my LCD one, Then I’ll keep the new one until the SD2 Oled.

I’m in the same group as you OP, I want it and I can afford it but I will admit that I don’t need it and it’s gonna feel a bit of a waste of money given I had my SD for only about 6 months.

So I’m torn right now, I’ll most likely get but there’s a chance that I’ll return it, maybe.
