I am disappointed with how Trae has started this year just like a lot of you. This shit isn’t acceptable. In my opinion his bad shooting has lost us 3 games against NY, OKC and Miami.

I say that because your role players will have off nights, we can’t blame it on them when we’re begging our star player to shoot 40% from the field. Our guy simply isn’t taking over games anymore when we need him too outside once in a blue moon.

We can live with him shooting 43-45% missing difficult shots. We cannot live with him missing open floaters though…

People are mad he takes 30 ft shots. He’s shooting 50% on those this year are we sure we want him to stop taking the only shot he’s been efficient at? The 3pt shooting is regressing to the mean of 35-37%

The problem is he’s missing open floaters. All his floaters are rimming in and out cause he’s afraid. He’s trying not to miss him instead of making them. He’s stopped taking mid range shots completely too.

So that means inside the 3pt line on the PnR, if he’s not passing to somebody, he’s turning it over, or missing a floater almost every time.

THATS what killing him, not “30 ft stepbacks” his shot selection is the best it’s ever been this year, he’s still a huge positive for our offense. But he can’t take over the game like he used to being afraid to shoot what used to be his most reliable, effective shot.

I agree with this post in a lot of ways, but I want to point out that we lost to Miami because we gave up 41 points in the 1st quarter, not because of Trae’s shooting.

In fact, Trae didn’t play a lot of the 1st quarter if you recall correctly. I think he played something like 4 total minutes in the 1st. We out shot Miami in Q’s 2-4 but it wasn’t enough because we gave up so much in Q1.
