It was a rather ugly start for the Heat - and really was ugly throughout. But the Heat pulled it off. Still only 10-games into the season - no need to get carried away about the team or any individual performance.

That being said, I am of the opinion that the slow start today was attributed by the Heat, once again, continuing to jack up a reckless amount of 3s - especially when they aren’t falling. The Heat may think they can get away with that approach against lesser teams or teams equal to them but they won’t get away with that against teams that may be a notch or two better. The quality of their shots must be better.

Secondly, this slow start was attributed to Jimmy once again not putting forth the effort - especially to start with. He can get away with that when this team is at full strength, but he needs to understand more is needed from him - especially while Tyler is out.

Highsmith rebounded the ball well, but I’m still of the opinion that he must do more on offense to warrant being a starter/playing starter minutes. I like intangibles from him but he needs to do more if he is going to start. I just don’t think he should be starting just yet - there are games where he is going to be a liability on one or both ends of the court. Not to mention I prefer for our big men to be a presence on the inside rather than shooting from outside the perimeter so much.

As for Smith - He was solid. But like Highsmith - less might be more as far as minutes. He’s another guy I can see being successful in some matchups but too much of a liability right now in other matchups. He’s making strides though.

Overall, it was a fairly balanced attack - which this team needs right now. Tim to prepare for Tuesday as the Heat continue quite a friendly stretch of games to start the season.

Maybe I’m just overvaluing Highsmith but his defense is so good it balances out his occasional poor offensive game.

Like if Love isn’t shooting well dude is benched immediately because he can barely play defense, same goes for Bryant.

These games are perfect for Highsmith as he gets to take advantage of Caleb being out, he’s going to be a menace come playoff time.
