I wanted to make a complaint about the Steam Deck, because I experienced problems with the volume and power buttons. In addition to this, the coating of my left trackpad started coming off heavily on its own - I used it much less than the right one, which looks much better. Steam support is only offering me a paid repair because they say the trackpad defect is not covered under warranty. Has anyone had similar problems? Even if they rule out fixing it, shouldn’t they fix the buttons? I am in the EU.

    Dude trackpads have no coating.

It’s textured plastic, it can and will wear down to a smooth finish. Wear and tear isn’t covered by warranty if it’s just aesthetic.

You can fix it with trackpad stickers. 5 eurs at most for a 4 packs of them.

Yes, I had them taped before. The problem is that Valve refuses to repair the buttons because of the trackpad, which I believe was of defective material anyway.
