We all know that one of the best WRs in our history has a kid this years draft who is projected to be just as good as pops. Is there a real possibility that the Colts trade up with say the Bears to draft him since he is in a position of need for us? We seem to have a good trade relationship with the Bears and have a history of trading up for players we like. Do you think the FO trades some assets to get the hometown guy or do they keep the assets to take best available at their original spot?

TLDR: Trying to gauge my hopes of getting MH Jr. before draft season starts to know whether I should let it go or not

Ballard isn’t trading up to draft a wide receiver. He just won’t do it.

Beating the Panthers put the kabosh on that. After that win, there’s really no reason to not win as many as you can and try to sneak into the playoffs.

I doubt very seriously if anybody is going to trade the MHJ pick. He’s as close to a sure thing as I’ve ever seen at WR. He’s a guy who can get open in all areas of the field.

Malik Nabors had moved to my second choice at receiver, ahead of Coleman. I just don’t believe that Coleman has the outside speed that we need, and we have plenty of receivers with height who can win jump balls.

We need a receiver who can get open, not another one who wins 50/50 balls. A young quarterback feels much more comfortable throwing to open receivers rather than to covered receivers.

If the choice is between Nabors and Verse, though, I’m going with the skilled edge rusher. If this defense had an outside rusher who consistently got quarterback pressure, we’d be a legitimate top defense.

Nothing helps the secondary more than a rattled and sacked opposing quarterback, as we saw Sunday morning. If Dayo can have that sort of outing consistently, then we’re in business. Unfortunately, we don’t face the Patriots’ dismal offensive line every week.

Every time our secondary has gotten torched, it’s because our pass rush has been ineffective. We got zero pressure against the Saints, and that was all she wrote.

We need somebody who can beat the best tackles in the NFL once or twice a game. Maybe that’s Verse.

If we trade up for any position, it had better be edge, and the eighth draft spot might be right around where Verse goes. We can reach 8, I believe.

Anything is possible, you know Irsay wants him bad but I doubt it.

The MHJ to Colts dream is dead.

Only possible ways it can happen (in order of least to most realistic):

    • Off the Field scandal

    • Devastating Injury to MHJ that hurts his stock enough to fall

    • Colts Trade Up (something Ballard has yet to do in Round 1 and only done 3x with the Colts, 0x in the 2021-2023 Drafts)

    • He joins via trade or as a free agent years down the line

0 chance. The price would be astronomical if even possible.
