Considering he signed a long term MLE deal with us i could see how it would look weird trading him but IMO he’s the most tradable contract not D’LO. I don’t think D’LO is reliable come playoff time & gabe is a better defender, but this team NEEDS another physical interior defender & i don’t think Gabe’s Defense or shooting warrants him being more important than D’Lo especially given the current roles.
Jonas from the Pelicans would be that final piece for me, On a 1 year expiring, hasn’t really fit that well with the Pels his whole tenure there
Gabe & JHS works financially & could
D’lo/Austin
TP/Reddish/Max
Lebron/Vando
AD/Rui
Jonas/C Wood/ Hayes
pick up another guard in FA/buyout And i would be confident vs whoever. Jonas is good enough from three to keep the defense honest & will completely destroy smaller defenders on him as well as be an A+ on the boards
Uh what? Why does this team “NEED” another strong interior defender? Who is going to beat us up in the middle? Jokic? There is no Jokic stopper. Embiid? No individual player stops him either (outside of the playoffs). Giannis? A physical interior defender doesn’t stop him, team defense does.
Gabe fills a need. People need to stop pretending like a backup center is going to make a larger difference than a POA defender at the 1. This is 2023, not the 90/
Gabe is an AVERAGE at best POA defender who is also average on offense. Meanwhile outside of AD we have NOBODY who can rebound well, protect the paint, be physical on screens & box out.
All an average POA defender does is allow for AD to have to get out of position to cover for them & watch as teams get offensive rebounds over & over again. The Team is built around two of the most athletically gifted & unique players in league history & ya’ll want to continue to build the roster like it’s prime GS. lean into the physicality, Strength & defense.
Any time since the Lebron/AD duo came together than has been the winning recipe
If your name isn’t LeBron James or Anthony Davis a trade is always realistic.
