how about none of them wins? they are all remakes or sequels. i mean, except maybe mario wonder, which is technically not a sequel, but probably similar enough to other 2d mario platformers… or not?
Dave The Diver is not an indie game. It should not be nominated over other indie games that don’t have a mega corporation backing them, like Pizza Tower.
Surprised that Pizza Tower didn’t get a “Best Indie” nomination, and I’m disappointed (but less surprised) Cassette Beasts didn’t either
My top 3 this year in some order
Lies of P
Tears of the Kingdom
Laika Aged Through Blood
(waiting for the boys to play balders gate)
I hope Laika can at least get a nomination for something. Music, new IP, or best Indie. Mario Wonder should have been replaced with Lies of P but Nintendo go brrrrrr
One of the issues is you have to vote in every Category.
Games for Impact section? Never heard of any of those games. But I need to vote for one…
Best sim/strategy has:
-
Cities Skylines 2, which is super broken
-
Company of Heroes 3, far from being even good
-
Advance Wars reboot, which is only okay.
And then they just snubbed Age of Wonders 4 which is actually super good.
-
Very AAA heavy as always but still a few indies made it in there. Not sure if I agree with some of the choices but let’s be honest: the awards are more of the framework for the announcements during the show, right? The award show itself is mostly quite cringe.
Team Spirit were robbed in the best esports team, best player and best coach category.
Also, I really hope Armored Core 6 wins best action. I don’t remember the last time movement felt so good.
Did they get rid of Player’s Voice after the Sonic drama last year?
Really they nominated totk for best art direction? Its literally a copy paste from 2017 BOTW the OG.
Pikmin 4 being in the “family game” category is hilarious, if only because it made my 7-year-old niece cry every time a Pikmin died, and it made my 10-year-old nephew cry because the challenge levels can be genuinely difficult. That being said, I loved Pikmin 4, so I hope it gets a win!
