WTF is this man. 19 points against the Spurs? When??? I swear I only saw this man make 2 shots all game. I forgot he was there. 19 points, 6 boards, 4 assists, 1 block, and +14???

Jimmy Butler is like the bumpers in a bowling alley. He is training wheels on a bicycle. This man is a security blanket that you don’t even realize is there.

I only caught the 4th quarter yest so I went back rewatched the whole game today and he’s constantly teaching and almost supervising the younger guys on a lot of plays? Almost like he was coaching, pointing out who was open, which play to run, where to position themselves— so I think it’s deliberate that he’s hovering at a 4/5 out of 10 most nights but he’s so carefully watching the new guys especially and the rooks when he’s on the floor and kind of just sees himself as a safety net.

I think he’s mentioned how his teammates know it’s his way of instilling confidence in them— that he’s watching but he’s not gonna kobe and hero ball his way on every possession. Rather, he wants them to know he has confidence they will dig themselves out and he’s there to support them doing it. It makes a lot of sense— like he wants the team to fully know and see in his actions that he considers them equal teammates and they’re not just like random parts that he passes to simply bc he’s forced to and has no choice. Almost like reinforcing that “you guys are my top choice to pass to if it’s the right move and the right play; passing to you and trusting you is not my last resort.”

But your overall point stands- Jimmy will have these games where it’ll be the 4th quarter and I’ll feel like he’s done nothing and I’ll go to the box score to see but how awful he’s been and it’s usually like 17-22 pts and like 4-5 rebs but always feels like 7 pts lol
