Yes, we stink when it matters.
Yes, our coach can suck a golf ball through a garden hose.
But, here’s the best I got to make you feel like we aren’t doomed.

We’ve lost to the best of the best. ^(minus the titans game). The combined record of the Dolphins, Cowboys, Chiefs is 15-5 through week 7. Ranked 4th most difficulty schedule to start the season. Now 8th easiest ROS. Source.

Of the remaining games left, only 4 teams are above 0.500. Lions, Ravens, Bills, Chiefs. The remaining opponents have a combined win pct of 0.326. God fuckin awful start for the 7 other teams (Broncos x 2).

The team shows flashes of being good. Why do I say that? We haven’t pieced together a complete game on either side of the ball. But, that’s not to say we can’t. This is where I persecute Staley for making adjustments too late, because playing man versus the Dolphins was dumb, and playing zone against the Chiefs was worse. But what you can take from the Chiefs game is that adjustments were made, and the second half was decent defensive football. Now, do that against significantly worse teams than the Chiefs offense. Now, you might have some wins.
Folks. I don’t like hope, but as a Chargers fan, I don’t like subscribing to the idea of losing. Even if that means Staley keeps his job for the rest of the season.
That being said, if we lose to the Bears on Sunday night, we are FUCKED.
The season is no where near over. People are just losing it because their expectations got crushed. Still a lot of football to watch and I’m excited no matter the outcome.
If you didn’t win last weekend it means you’re a bad team and we need to gut the organization.
If you did win last weekend, that’s fine. But you need to keep it going. OR ELSE!
The Chargers must sweep both of their division Rivals to make the playoffs and they haven’t swept one of them in years
They will not make the playoffs.
This. We’ll probably have a shot then lose the Raiders and Broncos games at the end of the season.
I see what you are saying. I grew up in New England & Boston and have been a season ticket holder to the Chargers since they came to LA. Here’s the difference:
Boston -> die-hard fans, it’s in the blood. The EXPECTATION, especially for those paying, is you try damn hard. If not, we’re going to tell you, you suck. If you win, and don’t try hard, you’re still catching hell. If you win, and try hard -> we’ll buy you a house.
SOCAL -> die hard fans, also in the blood (just a lot less.) NO EXPECTATIONS. No accountability. We just “should all over them.”
My point is if this team, with this freaking unreal talent on the roster, were in my hometown and playing like this against some of the best and performing like this - there would literally be riots in the street.
I appreciate the positivity, I do. But unacceptable is still unacceptable. I also love the Chargers and they remind me of the late 90’s Pats. I want accountability.
This post isn’t about being mad. It’s about not giving up on the season.
Trust, this season is a stinker in regard to expectations, coaching, all of it.
But I don’t watch football in hopes that the Chargers lose or are going to lose.
Love the optimism, but this team’s done.
If we lose the bears on SNF, would cheap Spanos fire Staley or keep him?
Spanos won’t fire him if they lose, he doesn’t care about winning. The chargers are just an investment to him, nothing else.
Yea I agree investment + business renevue. I know for a fact he doesn’t care about fan base because look how fast he turned his back on loyal SD fans…realized he messed up… and then bid for partnership in LA to hopefully erase that blemish in this franchise’s history. Now he praying to build some loyal LA fanbase following by spending “more” past few years (saved $ being under cap for consecutive 4-5 days prior) meanwhile going cheap on headcoaching hire lol. Just smh
I have zero faith in Staley and our players to make a post season run.
Zero. THEY JUST DONT HAVE WHAT IT TAKES
