##My 20W Idle

One of RDNA3’s biggest flaws is its power draw… Usually across all power bands, except peak power [benchmark] scenarios where we see performance/watt improvements

So keep this in mind, I personally run Fedora(38) w/my 7900XTX.

Kernel: 6.5.10-200

Mesa: 23.1.9

I remember the other day checking and my power draw was closer to 100w than I would have otherwise liked.

I started Fedora and realized my room wasn’t turning into mini-sauna… the temps, software and we were sitting at 20w idle(single monitor@90hz: as low as 7w) power draw.

Very surprised to see a this, I recently did a PSU/Case swap/Rebuild) so I wondered if that’s why, but Idle Power draw is still 80-90w for me In Windows.

So I wanted to ask the community how their idle power draw looks after all of this time.

Please comment so long as you have RDNA3, does not need to be a 7900XTX.

      My system is pretty modern.

      I get 7w idle on Fedora 38.

Now I want to say updated Kernel & Mesa drivers did this, but I’m not entirely sure.

I’m just really happy my rooms stays cool now lmfao.

      For more context, I have a single monitor(atm) 4k@90hz.

It is higher than before, yeah. Around the same for me (20 W) for 2560x1440 / 180 Hz.
