If we get a GM and if Ron is fired at the end of the season, isn’t much of his staff going with him? If EB is not the head coach wouldn’t a new coach want to bring in his own guys and that includes OC if he’s not calling Offense himself.

Also would a new coach bring in a Defense coordinator he trust? or would that be up to the team to pick one?

Less than 15% he’s out OC next year.

He’s either gonna get our HC job or another teams.

He’s really coaching his way into that over the last several weeks. If the offense stays like this he’s definitely getting a HC gig.

I don’t think EB has shown why he can’t be a HC he’s done great w howells progression as a player and this fan base is so used to misery that i see a lot of people still doubting the kid when he’s done more for us in 11/12 games than anyone has since RG3 and Kirk if Ron is gone and EB gets HC or Stays at OC and a new aggressive DC and GM come in we will be fine

I hope they do not. The run game is non existent. Yes the offense is improving but I don’t see any balance at all. I don’t want some hold over but if a new Gm under no duress decides to promote or keep him that’s fine

Watching his ojt as an OC has been painful enough. If the next HC decides to keep him (assuming he gets significantly better as we go) whatever.

But I haven’t seen nearly enough for him to be retained, definitely not promoted.

That said I’m sure his contract is nice and he’ll be fine either way. He’ll no doubt get a TV job

I would love the consistency for our offense and SH. Idk if our WR would do better next season with an understanding of the scheme. I’m also pretty damn sure they would do well with a Shanny style scheme like KoC or something. If we get a new Oc I hope they aren’t egotistical… they need to blend their scheme with what Sam has learned and the calls they have been using to make the switch to the new system easier.

EB < who? Sure lets hire the next Gibbs. The next great HC.

Who is that? You might get Saleh or Campbell. Maybe. You also might get Frank Reich, Gannon or Shane Steichen the hot Coordinators last year who all beat out EB & who have not improved their Teams in the first year. Or you could go the retread route: Josh McDaniel, Steve Spagnuolo…Rhule anyone? Kingsbury?

Frank Smith (OC Coordinator for the Dolphins leading the League in Offense right now … maybe? The Browns are Leading in Total defense their coordinator is re-tread Jim Schwartz).

TLDR: the Never-EBs need to have someone better who will make the Team and esp. Howell better. I am not sure any of those names & those likely to be available stand head and shoulders over EB. I agree he isn’t a shoo-in slam dunk. I also don’t see a completely obvious upgrade.

If we hire Ben Johnson, he’s likely gone. If we hire a defensive head coach, there’s a small but not insignificant chance that he gets retained by the team.
