I really want to get one since 11/11 has good d eals on them, but I’m not sure if I need one.

For those of you who have one, what DAP do you use? Do you think it’s worth it?

I’m not going to buy one for purported claims of better sound quality or whatever; it would mainly be a convenience thing / separating out my phone from vs my music (like a dedicated iPod).

I have a Hiby R6 that I use all the time. I also travel constantly for work so I’m on planes or hotel rooms weekly. I love my DAP for that reason alone. It’s also a really good DAC that I use for my laptop.

For streaming? No thanks.just use your phone. If you’ve got a very large collection of ripped high quality non compressed music then they’re pretty awesome. I love my Sony and wouldn’t trade it for the world but without that collection it’s pointless. Hell I could argue still that it’s pointless but I really love the device regardless. I’d say it’s not necessary by any means but if you have the spare cash and want a spare device for high quality locally stored audio then go for it.

This submission has automatically been removed due to the following rule:

Rule 2: Ask purchase and shopping questions in the Shopping, Setup, and Technical Help Desk

Requests for product opinions, comparisons, and general purchase advice must be made in the dedicated Shopping, Setup, and Technical Help Desk instead of a new post.

Portable audio related purchase advice may also be asked in r/HeadphoneAdvice but please familiarize yourself with their rules first.

What questions are considered purchase advice?

    • A request for product suggestions, comparison requests, or opinion requests fall under the purchase advice rule. These can often be found by searching first.

    • Any suggestion or comparison request pertaining to headphones, IEMs, DACs, amps, or other accessories should be directed to the purchase help thread or r/headphoneadvice.

    • Asking the subreddit to help make a decision to buy a product does fall under this rule (e.g. “should I get dekoni pads for my HD650?”).

Why does this rule even exist?

I have a no longer supported LG G7 with a SD car full of my music collection. It has enough Juice for all my headphones except for my Modified Fostex T20. To be honest, I haven’t used it much since I got my Qudelix 5k which I use with my functioning smart phone.
