They need to either bring back 6v6 or/and remove swapping entirely. I mainly play dps and just started getting more into tanking and the counter swapping problem is very real. I’ve been really enjoying dva lately and have been trying to practice dva, I’ve never in my life seen so many zarya, Mei, sym since I’ve started playing dva, it’s like 75% of matches is them counter swapping to zar. it’s really pathetic how low people will stoop just to win a quick play match, I’ve had matches in QP where the tank literally sat at spawn and waited for their team to meet our team in battle so he could see who I was playing and he picks zar and arrives late to the battle, horrid game design, or you’ll get games where your Dva verse dva, but the enemy dva has mei, you end up getting stomped but you adapt and overcome and start diffing their dva and the enemy dva swaps to zar. Now I’ve been getting fairly decent with dva and can normally fight and win against a zar+mei or zar+sym as long as I have a solid team backing me but it gets a bit out of hand when they switch zar, mei, sym, brig, moria and suddenly you are no longer allowed to play the game at all unless you swap which I’m clearly against, I play the game because I enjoy certain hero’s and want to improve using those hero’s that I enjoy playing, I also prefer to adapt and change my playstyle to try and combat the counters without having to swap which I have great success doing if my team backs me. So I guess to sum everything up remove counterswapping entirely and bring back 6v6. sighs I can dream right?
I’m joining the choir to say that counter swapping has been a part of the game pretty much since the start, why would people be doing it for years otherwise? Certain characters have very hard counters and it would be extremely unfair to have to lock in your choice, especially if the other team pick characters you can’t do much with against them. Sym or Brig against a Pharmercy in the skybox? Have fun hiding in cover the entire game and waiting until they drop down to get maybe one or two hits.
6v6 also had a lot of problems I think people forget about, double shield ring a bell? nothing ever died and there was so much cc in the game it was boring as hell, I don’t actually want 6v6 back I think it would make the game less dynamic.
You’re also only 1 of 5 people against 5 beam or melee characters, your team is able to swap to counter them you know, right? Also Moira does not counter D.Va, you can remove half her kit buy sucking up her orbs…
I know Moria isn’t necessarily a “counter” but her purple beam can’t be absorbed, should I of said zen instead just to get my point across or are you understanding the words I’m speaking? I didn’t think I needed to go down the entire exact list of hard counters for you to understand what I’m saying, people keep crying about double shields as if the devs tried to fix it, a simple main tank/ off tank roles would of fixed that problem instantly than just addressed some of the cc issues, and when the fights took forever was some of the most fun I’ve had playing the game, it felt like a constant close battle between two teams trying their best, now it’s a hollow shell of what it used to be, oh one person got picked in 5v5 because they were in bad positioning? Game over your entire team gets stomped and deleted, what’s that? Your tank died? Entire team falls immediately after, it’s lame. When you lost a member in 6v6 you could still hold point fairly well. In 4v5 it’s not nearly as possible unless you are just straight up diffing their team entirely with those four people, as for the point you mentioned about the swapping has been in the game for all these years well that logic doesn’t really apply well considering that 6v6 was in the game for all those years and many hero’s were in the game for all the years yet they have changed the format and hero’s completely, I mean sym used to be a support remember? So it’s not like the game hasn’t been altered in anyway just because things were how they were for a long time.
