(Reposted as I think last post was deleted as I didn’t add discussion tag)

I’m not sure if this post is okay, but I had an idea that might be interesting to consider whilst we’re in another tedious internal break!

The idea is what team would you construct from past and present players, that weren’t part of the Invincibles squad, that would best be able to compete/beat the Invincibles in a one off match.

Wenger would also be ruled out as manager.

My team would be:

Manager: Arteta (George Graham was a bit before my time so)

GK: Cech (taking historic Cech as opposed to Arsenal version) RB: Sagna CB: Saliba CB: Adams LB: Zinchenko (perhaps recency bias, but of LB choices, haven’t been blessed with quality. Other choice is perhaps Monreal) CDM: Rice CM: Cazorla (torn between Cazorla and Ramsey) CM: Fabregas LW: Sanchez ST: Van Persie RW: Saka

Who would you guys choose?

an alexis-van persie-saka front three would fucking coooooooooook.

(and yet it would still be no match for pires-henry-bergkamp)

Meh, I get that it’s just a thought experiment but, taking historical Cech seems against the spirit of this imo considering we never personally got that version. I like the rest of the team though and would probably have something very similar. The only other point I’d make probably is that Ramsey and Cazorla isn’t really a debate for me, I’d have Cazorla over Ramsey every day of the week. Rambo outside of 13/14 was largely incredibly frustrating to watch and would be quite careless with the ball at times, whereas Cazorla was about as secure as they come in possession.
