Currently own a 440whp MK7 GTI but I had to install intake, downpipe, bigger cooler, hybrid is38 turbo and lpfp to make this power, I’ve learned today APR states the new MK8 GTI with just a downpipe and APR tune makes 358hp on 93 fuel from it’s original 241hp that’s a 117hp gain, what other modern cars make massive gains with tuning and bolt on mods (intake/exhaust/similar mods)?

I gained ~130whp (~30%) from high flow cats and a tune. Monster speed.
E85 would get me another 20-30. An intercooler would be necessary to sustain that, probably. Methanol would get me another 20-30, above 600 now. The stock turbos run out of headroom around there (that’s north of 30psi) as far as I know, but I believe the internals are good for another 100+ with bigger snails.

P2 XC70 , all you need is to swap the xc’s turbo for the R’s turbo and get a tune. It’s probably the closest we got to a modern day bnr34 saloon.
not a car but alot of diesel trucks with just a straight pipe and tune with make a cool 150/200 more hp
