The problem is that NVIDIA makes super high end chips for HPC and scales them down for gaming.

AMD makes integrated graphics for APUs and SOCs and scales them up for gaming.

So it will always be an uphill battle for AMD.

Throw in historically low market share and competition from Intel on the low end, it may not be financially viable

Anyway, if you want predictions as to what will actually happen, here’s mine. RDNA 4 isn’t a console technology, so it will be half hearted, even more so than RDNA 3 in the RX 6000 family if the rumours are anything to go by. AMD will do RDNA 5 for desktop PCs. It’s very likely doing RDNA 5 (or Navi 5 if you prefer) for the next-gen consoles. So, it will be the fully funded effort and it will probably be pretty good.

Can gamer writers stop parroting this stupid shit? Amd doesn’t “defund” their graphics architectures based on whether they’re consoles. They just happened to fuck up on rdna3 and ran into packaging design delays on high end rdna4. Nobody develops graphics aiming to lose, things just didn’t go their way that’s all. And no rdna2 ain’t created and funded by microsoft and sony
