  • I’m an older fan like the OP. I’ve watched this team for decades. For most of us, we’ve had incredible patience. We are the ones that were shunned because we supported the Lions in the bad times. We continued to fill their stadiums when they were absolute garbage. We would fill their coffers just because of Calvin or Barry.

And we were the best, and the worst, fandom, in all of the NFL. The addicts who couldn’t put down the bad stuff.

But now we’re in a new era and aren’t really sure how to react. We’ve got a really good team that’s not quite to the brink of a championship level yet.

I know I’ve let myself get caught up in all the hype. All the stuff I read online and see on TV. I’m just gonna try and dial it back to my off-season expectations and hope we can win the division and maybe a playoff game. I know there’s a lot more good things to come.

  • Just Denver?? I’m worried about all of it now. We have no pass rush, which has been a worry all season. I’m starting to really worry about Jared. And then once again I’m starting to worry about Dan Campbell’s judgment.

My biggest worry is Aaron Glenn’s defensive scheme. This is like the third time this has come up in his tenure.

But We’ll be OK guys. We just got our hopes up a little too high this season. I’m gonna go back to where I was preseason and that’s winning the division and winning a playoff game. I still think we can do that and it’ll be a nice step up from last season.

  • I don’t think most of us, in our sane moments, don’t think we have some good players. And maybe that’s whats most frustrating. I think the real question as to why we continue to be absolutely terrible lies in other areas.

1.) Is our coaching any better than it was? Monty seems to have a real dislike for Ivey. It really feels like it’s beyond the “teaching the Colts a lesson” phase. And that’s just one example.

2.) Has Weaver failed to put together a team that is as good or better than the sum of it’s parts? The evidence strongly suggests that this is the case. Every other Pistons championship team had unrivaled chemistry. I would argue this is just as important as talent, unless you’ve got LeBron James or Michael Jordan.

3.) Again, this is on Weaver. Have the Pistons established any type of positive culture in the years since he has taken over? Again, the answer has to be no. Look how long it took Dan Campbell to establish a totally different culture. It can be done and in less than four years.

Injuries and excuses about how our core is young are just not acceptable. A real championship team has a nice mixture of veterans and youngsters. I think this is where Weaver has failed the most. Injuries are mitigated by having good depth.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll continue to say it, we’ve been terrible for 10+ years, that falls on the front office.

    Time for a change.

  • I said pretty much this in another post. The time for patience is past. Four losing (badly) years with Weaver. Ten plus years of terrible basketball from a once proud franchise. I had high hopes a new coach would at least help. He hasn’t.

Time for a new direction. Weaver has had his chance and shown nothing as far as team wins, which is all that really counts. Following player stats and talking about future All Stars does nothing for me. It shouldn’t for you either.

  • Cade is a nice piece, but he’s not the answer. He’s not in Isaiah Thomas, or even a Chauncey Billups. We need to start tearing things down now, while we have assets. The whole patience thing is not working.

We’ve been patient, and a joke, for over a decade. That’s long enough of a rebuild guys!

Make some trades, get a couple of veterans in here that can help carry this team. Do anything besides what we’ve been doing for the last 10 years.

What a joke this once great franchise has become!
