I’m disappointed like everyone else.
But,
I’m not understanding the sky is falling rhetoric I keep seeing here and on twitter.
This is a deeply injured, 19-22yo led team with a brand new coach competing in a deeper NBA than we have ever seen. What exactly were you all expecting?
What I want to know is this - what exactly would you have had Troy do?
Yes, Killian was a miss. Taking him over Haliburton hurts, but every single GM in basketball has at least one of those. I mean the Kings even took him and traded him away. Ivey over Sharpe hurts a little too, but that’s still not a done deal and I think stealing Duren in the same draft easily evens it out.
Beyond drafting, I keep seeing “he shouldn’t have used free agency money the way he did, or he should have spent on x player.”
What free agency moves would you have made?
This rebuild started with less than nothing, it started with negative assets. We are not the Rockets, Thunder, or Jazz, starting off by trading away stars for hauls. SVG left this franchise in shambles.
We are two draft lotteries of bad luck away from having Paolo, Jabari, Chet, Wemby, or Scoot on this roster. If those ping pong balls bounce differently, everything could be viewed in a different light right now. That isn’t anyone’s fault.
So before you go calling for the head of the GM you were just praising 6 months ago, have some patience with an incredibly young team, and tell me what exactly you would have done that Troy didn’t that would have us in a better position right now.
I want to stop being the worst team every year
There’s like 5 teams with 3 wins and we have 2, quit being dramatic online
Injuries are not an excuse for a 10 plus game losing streak. Stop making excuses, that’s loser shit.
Just want Cade to stop being so high while playing
Tbf Reggie Jackson was always cooked when he played for us, his eyes were bloodshot every game😂
i want our front office, trainers, fans and players to not give up ! play sum real defense please
Putting a bunch of talented young guys on a roster is PART of a rebuild. NOT THE ONLY THING YOU NEED TO DO.
You also need to:
- surround those players with vets that can guide them
- develop them and help them shore up their weakensses
- put a GOOD MIX of of young talented players together (hey maybe one dude on the team that can bucket a 3 pointer would be a good idea in today’s nba, i know it sounds crazy)
- not trade away the few assets you have (miss you Sadiq, Jeremy)
The easiest answer to your question is that if I knew exactly what I wanted and needed to make this franchise better, I might be working in the NBA.
It doesn’t take 4 years to not be the worst team in the nba, or to look like it’s on the upswing. I understand the challenges, but it’s not good enough and you have to find someone better and improve where you can. It’s as simple as that. I doubt it’s going to turn around and he’ll suddenly be the best GM in the league.
How about a little Winning?? It’s been four years and we haven’t improved a single bit. An argument could be made that we are even worse.
With all our high draft picks, and no progress, this is an absolute disaster. Worst team in the league four years running!
Nothing else needs to be said.
OKC is drastically younger team and kicking everyone’s ass in the west that isn’t Denver.
Youth isn’t an excuse. Killian is in year 4. Cade is in year 3.
Weaver just put together a misfit roster. He’s had little resources, certainly. But he’s done a mediocre job with 3 top 5 picks and 4 other first round picks.
OKC has a super star in Shai in his 6th year. And got lucky Chet fell to them at 2. Can they win a playoff series first before you crown them?
I want to see our young players to continue to improve and when it’s time add a vet to put them in playoff contention.
Mfs wanted us to overpay for Cam Johnson who’s barely averaging more ppg than Ausar. Fans just want moves just for the sake of making them without acknowledging that’s literally how we ended up in 8th seed limbo with no future/prospects.
Because we aren’t a fucking monolith. Our opinions and emotions all fall on different parts of the spectrum. So next time you wonder why someone may not have the same charitable opinion as you, remember, it’s because we aren’t you. You don’t wanna fire Troy, cool, the other wants to fire Troy, cool too.
I want to be entertained if we’re going to be awful. Let Ivey start and get the bulk of the SG minutes. At least he’s explosive and entertaining
I’d like the coach not to put a rusty Livers and a non-shooter Thompson on the floor coming out of a timeout when the teams needs to score with less than two minutes to go.
Sorry about this response. It just brought back memories of Monty’s multiple counts of coaching malpractice against Denver.
I think we need some GRIT. Get MCDC and BH in here!
I want to see us play lineups that make sense with the personnel that’s available, I want to see us give effort for 48 minutes, I want to see us limit turnovers caused by lazy unfocused play, I want to see this squad play with urgency, and I want to see us cut and move the ball instead of playing hero ball bullshit.
If we play the right way and lose, so be it. But right now this team looks like they’re playing against an opponent and also themselves.
If their goal was to not add long-term salaries last season, I would have used the money for decent players on one-year deals. There were lots of guys that ended up taking only a one-year “prove it” deal.
But for me:
Grant Williams at $13mill/year/4 years
Kelly Oubre: Vet minimum for one year. (Like he signed with Philly)
Christian Wood: Vet minimum one-year deal.
(And there still would have been space left. We had $30 mill)
