  • I know this is a world’s smallest violin thing… but even for people that are in the market for expensive track toys, cars as investments have absolutely ruined the high end car market. Stuff gets engineered to hell but “exclusivity” means no one drives them out of fear of depreciating their investment.

    Recent Audi example: I’ve always had a fondness for the R8 and was looking for something different to replace my 720S as a track car, so when the R8 GT was announced I thought that’d be a great fit. Nope, everything marked up to hell, $50K+ over MSRP. No doubt most will be locked away by speculators.

    Another example: Attempting to buy any Porsche ever.
