I found this thread because I was just wondering this. I booted up Cyberpunk and Guardians of the Galaxy at 30FPS and I swear they look and play MUCH better on the OLED deck than they every did on the LCD. Maybe it’s the reduced latency or pixel response times I don’t know but I really didn’t enjoy 30FPS games on the LCD deck but I’m loving them on the OLED.
Okay just came here looking for an answer and this might be it. HDR is totally broken on my CP2077 copy from GOG.
I get that at home charging only works for a lot of people but for a sizable number it won’t. I just couldn’t stomach the idea that to drive long distances I would need an entire other ICE car. My single car needs to be able to do anything.
It’s because there’s no fucking infrastructure outside of Tesla. It’s not a mystery. There’s nowhere to charge an electric vehicle outside of Tesla’s network. I was going to buy an VW ID4 until my Tesla-owning friend turned me into this fact. Once there’s a serious reliable, ubiquitous, and cheap charging network in the US the EV demand will follow. We’re putting the cart before this horse in this country and it drives me insane.
I was thinking that would be the case because the thermals are better and it doesn’t get as hot.
This is a high quality post. 90fps HDR is the dream.
Good to know. I brought my SD card with me to Thanksgiving out of state with a bunch of games loaded up. Coming Friday!
“Steam Machine” is going to be Steam OS for all PCs. PC prebuilt manufacturers will start selling gaming PCs with Steam OS at a discount VS Windows machines because they don’t have to pay for a license. That’s Valve’s endgame.
My Autumn Sale haul (still waiting for my OLED):
Crysis Remastered - $1.49 (Because I own the original) Delete - $1.38 El Paso Elsewhere - $15.99 Guardians of the Galaxy - $14.99 McPixel 3 - $1.98 Signalis - $14.99 Tinykin - $9.99
About $60 on the nose. Same price as one new AAA game.
All those games are fantastic. Starfield might be a bit rough on the deck I’d look up some YouTube videos of steam deck performance for it before you commit.
Space Moth DX good shout there. Wonderful little SHMUP.
And very dark. I bet it looks incredible on OLED.
I really enjoyed this game on Steam Deck. It’s perfect for a handheld.
Happened to me with TVs. Once I bought an LG OLED I can’t go back. Not even to a very nice LCD TV.
This was my major issue as well. Shortly after I bought the OG Steam Deck I said to myself “If they ever make an OLED version I’m buying it in two seconds.” I know the LCD panel doesn’t bother everyone but it really bothered me. So when Valve released not only an OLED but a 90hz HDR OLED with improved battery life? Yeah take my money.
It would be such a win if they had a featured “HDR Games” part of the sale.
There were eBay listings for the OLED with 100% markup the second it launched. Screw every one of those people. I hope their Thanksgiving turkey is dry.
I’ve only ever used heroic but I’ll give Lutris a go
