I’ve been using a similar tactic for other experienced gardeners who aren’t qualified. I say ‘wish there was a book that would give me 30 years experience!’ not entirely untrue either.

I’m a horticulturalist. Garden maintenance, Production garden installs, garden renovations, small irrigation, small landscaping jobs and a few lawns.
Disappointing when it happens so close to home.
Thanks for your comment and congrats on your success . Yeah I just try to focus on my monthly figures and see that i’m growing an hitting my targets.
Thats insane. Yeh I just never anticipated it. I think it doesn’t help my wife also has a small business. People don’t appreciate how hard it was for us both to transition out of the workforce, was not fun. One of us was basically working like crazy to cover the other while we started up. I’m still tired from that and it was years ago lol
Totally not wealthy yet haha thats why I was so surprised. First year in and its pretty modest but I suppose they assume I am. Definitely will not be letting people know when it gets really profitable thats for sure!
100% I need to be earning another a fair bit more before I’m comfortable. I’ve still been spending a fair bit getting all my equipment. Had been using some household power tools etc and have now got all professional gear. I can now put all the windfalls into a cash reserve. I hear you.
😂 I do have a hand lens (small magnifying glass) that looks a bit like a monocle for inspecting plants. I should get it out more often at her place and start randomly checking leaves! 🧐
In brief summary, I had three 5 year careers in 3 different industries blue collar, then two white collar. Felt like I was hitting a glass ceiling because I did not have a degree. Quit my job, studied horticulture for 1 year. Spent 15k on a vehicle and tools and equipment. Focus is on fine gardening but at affordable price point. Just me but I do subcontract someone maybe once a week for bigger jobs. 100k turn over with 80k profit first year. Should be at 100k profit year 2.
Remember good branding will give you legitimacy before you have even started.
Any advertising is good I suppose? haha
