I wanted Howell too, practically cried out in pain when they announced Corral as the pick instead of Howell. But I don’t think Howell > Young. Howell has a terrible o-line like Young, but unlike Young he has a squad of speedy, high-separation young WRs. Look at the Cowboys game—they almost always gave Howell open men to throw to when under pressure. When I looked back at the Panthers tape, our dudes outside of Theilen were almost always covered. If we had all current circumstances the same but we also had WRs getting open but Bryce wasn’t finding them, then yes, he’s a bust. But we don’t have that. We just don’t know yet because dude hasn’t had an actual chance to prove anything.
This entire offense is a dumpster fire. Nothing can be judged on Bryce till next year at the earliest when hopefully he has more protection and more open people to throw to.
