I keep reading people commenting on his accuracy this game and though he had some bad misses, he still finished with a completion percentage of 72% (and that’s with a 8.4 yard/attempt average so it’s not a hollow stat). Doesn’t really get much more accurate than that at this level. Put another way, if he did that every game, he’d be far and away one of the most accurate passers in the league.
EDIT: No lie, other than the lack of TDs, these are pretty elite numbers. What I mean, if he averaged 278 yards for 17 games that’d be good for 4728 yards (which would easily be top 5). Not saying he will (obviously he can’t at this point now), but I’m just putting this performance in perspective.
One thing I’m hoping for that no one seems to be mentioning is more Muth. Dude was one of Kenny’s top options last year. He needs more attempts his direction for sure.
Of course if we lose to their backup, you know we’re never going to hear the end of it.
Yeah, again if you guys haven’t done so, you really ought to look up Drew Brees’s stats from his first 2 years (or for that matter TLaw’s or Jalen Hurts’). None of these guys were good their first 2 years and yet the 2 latter are among the best in the league now and the former is a future hall-of-famer. Not saying Kenny is sure-fire going to be awesome, but we owe it to him (as well as the FO who scouted him) to allow him his full 4 years to prove he’s the guy. It took him…what…4 years at Pitt starting before things “clicked”, maybe it’ll be the same way for him in the pros. You can’t teach clutch and he’s already shown that he definitely has that no matter what anyone says.
I’ve been trying to make this point all season. This offense does look bad, but it doesn’t look any worse then the ugly baby offense we had when Ben won his first ring. It’s been almost 20 years, so maybe people forgot how bad it was, but no one (and I do mean no one) had us going to the superbowl that year (let alone winning it).
Between these nationally televised early games and prime time slots, out-of-market fans are really eating this year.
It’s between ESPN and FOX for me. CBS is probably the worst.
