  • So I think without an entire career of excellence I think you can’t reasonably put him ahead of Hakeem, Shaq, Wilt, Russell, or Kareem. To me he is either 6th or 7th, and the person he is competing with is David Robinson. Personally I think Jokic is the better basketball player peak wise. From an accomplishments standpoint he has the extra MVP, and a championship as the clear best player. So I think by the end of his career Jokic will be clearly ahead of DRob, but right now DRob has more years of elite play, so I would not fight anyone who had DRob 6.

The next person is usually Moses Malone, and I actually feel pretty strongly that Jokic is better, but i’m probably lower on Moses and higher on DRob than most people.

  • I know you might now look at the box score and go, oh Murray had 16 points and 6 assists on 4/14 shooting. That’s not very good. But oh my god does he make the offense flow better, like it felt different 2 possessions into the game. the Jokic Murray 2 man game is so good at getting Jokic the ball in a position that is either a forced bucket, or forces the defense to collapse, leading to the Nuggets getting open shots. Also I think MPJ had like 3 wide open 3s in the second half that was just pure Murray making a great pass after drawing attention, and just missed them. Which was funny considering he was unconscious before that.

Anyway, if you didn’t watch the game, your gonna have to just trust me, Jamal Murray was very impactful, and makes a huge difference in how the Nuggets play.

  • I think Haliburton makes it over every other guard in the east the way he is playing this year. Passes based on basic stats, the eye test, and advanced stats. 25/12 on hilariously low turnovers relative to volume, insane efficiency, and oh ya currently the best offense in the history of the league. On a better team record then people expected.

For advanced stats he is 4th in the league in EPM, 4th in BPM, 11th in RAPTOR.

And finally just watching him he is so clearly insanely valuable and good on offense, incredibly clutch, and is just such a good passer, decision maker, and shooter.

Honestly hard for me to see a case right now for any guard in the east over him. I think right now Haliburton is closer to people like Jokic, and Embiid, than he is to Dame Lillard in terms of just performance this year.

  • I kinda think the most likely outcome is he wins MVP pretty easily to be honest.

It depends on what the other people do obviously, like if the Mavericks are actually good and Luka averages 34/9/9 on 64% true shooting he is probably going to win MVP. But personally I think the Nuggets are gonna win like 63,64 games, Jokic will average like 25.5/12/9 on 70%ish true shooting, and no other team will crack like 57 wins.

I just trust him the most to be consistent for the entire year. Steph in the last few seasons has had periods of 2016 prime Steph, and then will have a couple months where he is still amazing but only shoots like 39% from 3 instead of the normal 43%.

Luka as well, tends to not hold up his A game the entire year. He could this year, because if you look at his age I would expect him to get better still but I am more confident Jokic will be this good for the entire year. And I think Embiid will have a hard time winning MVP because of narrative for similar reasons Jokic did last years, and I don’t think the Sixers will be a top seed even if Embiid is incredible, and also Jokic is just better.

That leaves Giannis where it seems like there will be an adjustment period with the new team, coach, and system, and hasn’t started in tip top form.

IDK if I would take Jokic over the field, but I think he is the most likely person to win MVP, and the only person I could see winning it nearly unanimously unless everyone except 1 candidate gets hurt.
