MNMastiffBto Minnesota Timberwolves@nba.space•Any realistic helpful acquisitions before trade deadline?English1·2 years agoHyland (combo) and Dunn (defense) wouldn’t help. We need a tall PG who wont get killed on switches, is competent defensively, shoot .35 from 3, first rate floor general. No offensive creation ability needed! The woods are full of these guys. One of the jones brothers would be the platonic ideal, but we don’t need someone close to that good. Just someone who is a real floor general, and not a Smurf
MNMastiffBto Minnesota Timberwolves@nba.space•Any realistic helpful acquisitions before trade deadline?English1·2 years agoIve loved him since the draft. Great D at point of attack, good shooter. Is he really a 1 or a little 2?
Great teams navigate this sort of thing. Amazing we have SloMo and NAW to step in.
MNMastiffBto Minnesota Timberwolves@nba.space•Scoop: A-Rod and Marc Lore talking to Carlyle about T-Wolves financingEnglish1·2 years agoOmg, I seriously envisioned this yesterday. Not Carlyle specifically.
I am so happy for KAT and the team with the way he is playing at both ends of the courts. But people who wanted him to go weren’t being haters. They were reacting appropriately to his awful play. Now his game is far more focused and mature.
MNMastiffBto Minnesota Timberwolves@nba.space•What was the national perception of the Wolves during the 03-04 season?English1·2 years agoThey were well respected as an overachieving team that KG carried to .550 ball every year, and to the first round of the playoffs. It was the best Wolves year by far.
But I don’t recall us being thought of as contenders. Cassell and Sprewell were clearly in the downside of their careers.
Contrast with this year, when only Conley is nearing the end of his career. Everyone else is in their prime or young.
MNMastiffBto Minnesota Timberwolves@nba.space•The disrespect for KAT is getting insaneEnglish1·2 years agoHow about looking at the bright side? If KAT plays this way all season, and is a plus in the playoffs, he’ll be top 20 next year.
MNMastiffBto Minnesota Timberwolves@nba.space•When can we say that the gobert trade wasn’t a mistake?English1·2 years agoIt’s a great question.
On the up side, Gobert is now playing like the wolves hoped he would when acquired.
On the downside, Kessler is looking like the next Gobert.
If we win one or two rings, the trade will have been a massive success, well worth it.
It’s worth noting we have no ability to undo the change. It’s a sunk cost. So I’m already ecstatic w the first 10 games, and am more excited for this season than any previously.
2004 was a wonderful season. But it was clear cassell and Spre were in their last legs. That team didn’t have championship potential.
Before the season, I made a list of significant improvements by individual players that the wolves would need to excel. The odds that all of these would happen seemed really unlikely. But they have:
-
Conley still having gas in the tank - looking very good, as long as they keep him fresh for playoffs
-
Ant continuing to grow as leader, in offensive efficiency, as rebounder and as off ball defender - looking amazing!
-
Rudy reverting the Utah Rudy - looking awsome
-
Most importantly and unlikely, KAT turning into a plus defender and doing whatever needed for team to succeed - he’s done an amazing job. I wonder if the humiliation following his podcast stupidity forced him to confront the reality of how poorly he has been realizing his potential.

MNMastiffBto Minnesota Timberwolves@nba.space•Draymond Green and Anthony Edwards exchange words "What you gonna do about it?" - *Ant then went on to cookEnglish1·2 years agoNot fair, Draymond is just obnoxious, not evil
MNMastiffBto Minnesota Timberwolves@nba.space•What the heck was wrong with Dlo last year "Regarding Gobert"English1·2 years agoDLo is a toxic loser. I would have traded him for a cookie. Getting Conley and subtracting him is at least a quarter of the Wolves success this year.
MNMastiffBto Minnesota Timberwolves@nba.space•Ant is who we though Wiggins was going to be.English1·2 years agoWhy all the hate on people who were negative about this team in the past. It was the nba’s worst team ever, by record. Without KG, there was nothing to celebrate.
We may now have a spectacular team that could win multiple rings. Let’s celebrate that, look forward to a future that looks amazing and joyful. Let’s also give everyone who was sour about this team a pass.
MNMastiffBto Minnesota Timberwolves@nba.space•21 PTS 14REB 3AST 2STL 1BLK 9-14 FG 2-3 3PT & 1 FOUL!English1·2 years agoI’m so so happy with the way he’s playing, for the teams sake and for his own.
But HOF? Not impossible, but highly unlikely. It would take this level of performance for another 5-7 years, plus several rings.
Good news is, that scenario is unlikely, but not delusional.
I would love this so much!
So bizarre! What was rough about him wasn’t just his lack of a jumper. He didn’t like to take it to the rim either, unlike rondo, whose game was somewhat single.
