Nobara if you’re after the best, everything that can run on linux runs on nobara in my experience. Fedora if you are wanting a bit more stability (because sometimes nobara updates are awkward)

HorizonXI. It’s a FFXI private server but you can install it on deck and it’s amazing to be able to play the oldskool FFXI experience on a mobile device.
At the risk of forcing you to distro hop lots, it’s crap like this problem you’re having that forced me to seek out other distros and I landed on Nobara because everything actually works.
Failing that, try the native steam version rather than the flatpak, or vice versa. You might find that some games work in one steam but not the other
If you’re currently on fedora maybe that’s why you can’t install via apt
It can but it requires a bit of effort, though you can also use some applications that are free and native to Linux like Gimp, Krita, Inkscape and Darktable. Much easier since you can find these all on the discover store in desktop mode ^^
Sadly though, Microsoft put so much effort and money into ensuring windows is the default when people buy a pc and indoctrinate consumers from a young age to be used to windows that no one cares to switch to Linux. So I think the “free market” aren’t doing the talking so much. People are lazy and will use the default, which is what they know.
If suddenly tomorrow all retailers made Linux the default on computers they sell I suspect anticheat developers will find a way to work with it lol
I mean, why did you put this on a stove?!
It’s effectively a mini pc with a screen, controller and battery built in. For the price it’s amazing. If you get a 1080p monitor and a dock witha keyboard and mouse you effectually have yourself a full pc with a secondary screen that you can also unplug and play like a Nintendo Switch. Well worth it IMO if your current pc has worse specs.
