His rebounding is just so bad, he isn’t anything close to a long term option for this team
His future is a spark plug back up

He’s not good enough to be a number 1 option and he is the number one options on a team with zero other offensive options and zero spacing.
They have a little bit of maybe intriguing talent but NONE of it fits together.
Like, Ivey looks like he coudl be good but hes a ball dominant small shooting guard… he isn’t spacing the floor for Cade or vice versa.
Thompson is a defensive monsters but provides no spacing whatsever.
BPA makes the most sense drafting but you can kinda end up wtih rosters like this where the BPA dont fit at all
If Ben is a 3, we will forever suck at defence
We have a small non physical center, a thin 4 backed up by a guard, and then a bunch of 6’5 guards
We are just too small
Even our “good defenders” in Nesmith, Bowen, and turner aren’t great.
Hali, hield, mathurin, obi are legitimately awful defenders, nembhards been a non factor, and tjm is tiny and scrappy at best.
Personal just sucks
We could also very well be 6-8
Shai is the best player in the group so, OKC by default. A true superstar is always the hardest thing to find and Shai is simply better than Ja
Fox is great
But in regards to if we traded for wrong pg… then no.
Hali was still on his rookie contract. And is younger. Fits our timeline better
If we traded for fox, we’d have to be in instant win now mode.
So even if talent is equal, Hali would still be preferable
You aren’t a superstar until you win and he’s never even been to the playoffs, no real fault of his own but still. Playoff game is different, will his game 100% transfer? Who knows, beacuse he hasn’t been.
Look at someone like Sabonis, dude is an offensive stud center… in the regular season. Then all his flaws came out and he looked like completely garbage int he playoffs.
Over reacting over 11 games is folly. Is he a top 10 player this year after 11 games? Probably. But he’s gotta do it a whole season, while staying healthy, and get into the playoffs and keep it up to be a real “superstar”
Tj is only good in spurts when his brand of bball is needed
When he plays too much, he gets exposed
If only he rebounded the ball at all
Id take him over trae, maxi, and lillard atm,
he isn’t close to luka, steph, shai though
The problem is, none of the people mentioned are good enough to get any minute for us.
So if we are gonna park someone in the bench, we might as well keep tjm.
Hali also gets hurt somewhat frequently, so having a capable third stringer helps a bit.
PG is not a four
