  • I’m having problems these days in getting all my work done. Because of this, even though I’ve ordered a bunch of books, the idea that I won’t be able to give them much time just annoys me. And I already know that I’m going to have no attention span left to enjoy the books, and no time either, because I’ll have my thoughts on my pending work.

I understand your lack of time and honestly, all I can suggest is, give it time. Get some book you genuinely look forward to, and get off the phone if that’s hurting your attention span.

    Good Luck.

I’m have ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’ on my book list, I’ve been recommended it a hundred times, so I’m looking forward to reading it some day. I do think the characters in ‘And the Mountains Echoed’ are good, but the storyline seems to drag on I guess. Plus, this seems more drama and less emotion.

Honestly, I do get what you mean by the first books being stronger. I’ve read ‘Kite Runner’, and it was a really impactful book. It stayed with me for a long time. Compared to that, this seems much more average. Let’s see how it goes, but for now, the book isn’t really ‘drawing me in’ like the other did.

Why do you think this will seem better after reading ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’ though? Won’t I feel less attracted to a book that can’t keep up with that standard?

I just read this book this year, but it’s from 2016, and I thought that I was the only one still talking about it. It’s honestly an amazing book. It has a pretty great narrator, and it’s a very quotable book.

I remember the quote by Death when talking about soldiers in wars ‘both sides think they are running at each other, but they’re actually running at me’ (if I remember correctly).

One thing I really liked about this book is that it kind of builds up emotions throughout. The ending isn’t really thrown at you (though I like that as well of course), you already know most of what is going to happen, but you still feel it.
