The law does not currently prevent me from doing anything I want to do.
I like American music. Do you like American music? I like American music, too, baby.

I wasn’t sure, I’m in the Ask muni on both.
users on their instance, not users from their instance. This account is from midwest.social but currently commenting on… uh, lemmy.world, right?
Because it is the duty of parents to support their children, and this is desirable for the purposes of a stable society, and the purpise of law is to protect the stability of society?
I have a lot of original content, mostly Tom Swifty jokes here on lemmy at !tomswifty@midwest.social
Three words:
Bizarre public art!
I got a lot of help from HUD and FHA when I bought my house. I couldn’t have afforded to buy and renovate my home when I did without that program, which is only for first-time buyers. The program also helps housing supply by renovating unfit older buildings into usable housing stock.
So, at least in the US in general and Chicago specifically, gov’t is doing things to help first-time buyers.
Twenty, even fifteen years ago I would’ve said Windows Notepad / vim. Now I rarely use basic text editors.
I don’t think there’s any technology that can never be superseded.
So, in this hypothetical we have a time machine, and can see not just if Dems lose but also what the consequences of that loss are. Further GOP court-packing? Loss of human rights for other vulnerable groups? Or maybe just a continuation of the status quo? With the time machine, we would know. Because the Dems winning or losing is not a good or evil in itself, but the consequences could be.
But, real word time now, we can’t know all the consequences of our actions. We should always try to achieve the best results we can, of course, but you can’t do something you know is wrong (like stay silent on trans rights) in the hopes that an evil now will lead to a greater good later, or prevent a greater evil. That’s my take, but what else can you expect from a virtue ethicist?
Best Coast is very fun.
Sounds great! I’ll keep adding tracks as I think of them. Liked that Astropol track, BTW.
Jenny Lewis — “Head Underwater”
Cordelia’s Dad — “Little Speckled Egg”
Cracker — “Guarded by Monkeys”
Freelance Whales — “Generator ^ First Floor”
Minus the Bear — “Let’s Play Guitar in a Five Guitar Band”
You’re gonna share the playlist when you’re done, right?
This one might be too mainstream, but:
Iron & Wine — “Woman King”
Sometimes! I make mine with onions, peppers, and carrots. My favorite diner doesn’t shred them, just slices them thin. Some places bake them instead of frying them, too. There’s a hashbrown for every occasion, they’re not just tinier french fries.
Also, okay, I know it’s relatively rare to french your fries these days, but it’s even more unheard of to french a hashbrown. (I’d totally eat a frenched hashbrown, though.)

Donate it. I’m sure there’s someplace that will want it as a wifi-cabable minitablet for kids to access the Internet on.
T-shirts take up much less space if you roll them. So do most other clothes, but it’s a huge gain with the T-shirts.
That they could get the same level of table service if waitresses were paid a flat wage.
That waitresses rely on tips to make up for a deficient wage instead of the other way around.
That less ice will mean more drink in the glass.
That the 185°F water from the coffee machine will clean the silverware better than the much hotter sterilizing rinse of the industrial dishwasher.
That they should wait to complain to a manager instead of telling me right away if something is off so I can fix it.
Ah right. Well I suppose the first thing would be to get my long skinny blue ass back to Pandora.
Not from within the “comment reply” action, sadly.
