  • I liked hearing the part about embracing pounding the rock, but I absolutely loved the part where Wemby talks about relationships with opponents even more.

I watched Wemby’s post-game interview on the Spurs YT channel, and a bit after the 5 min mark, Wemby says that he doesn’t really “allow himself to entertain relationships with players that he will have to play against and fight against.”

This kid has that killer instinct in him that you only see in players like MJ, Kobe, etc. I’m beyond stoked to see where Wemby takes this team in the future.

  • As you suggested, any explanation that us fans could offer would likely be highly speculative since we don’t truly know what the locker room dynamic behind closed doors is actually like.

Having said that, I feel like you are probably in the ball park with your explanation. These players are highly competitive, which is what got them to the NBA in the first place. It can’t be easy for Sochan to learn one of the toughest positions on the fly like this and to have a performance like he did tonight. I’m hoping that it’s just frustration and not a symptom of something more serious.

  • Honestly, this was my initial reaction when I saw comments about this in the post game thread, but then I heard Pop talk about “bad body language and players not sticking together” in his post-game media conference after the game (I watched the one on the Spurs YT channel).

In all likelihood, this is probably a blip that is a normal part of team building that Pop will handle, but I do hope this doesn’t become some kind of long term issue. Wemby and this team already has enough haters from the outside we certainly don’t need some internal issues festering throughout the season.
