Thanks for the settings! Is HDR working for you? Even if it says ON in the launcher options I don’t get the HDR badge above the brightness slider in the Deck’s Quick Settings menu. And the option to toggle HDR doesn’t appear in the in game graphics settings menu. :/
You can check protondb.com for user reports on the games you want to play. I don’t own it myself but I’ve seen people say that Lies of P runs really well on the Deck.
I tried the method described by u/NotARedShirt but it didn’t help, still no HDR in Hitman WOA. I think the game doesn’t recognize the display as HDR capable if HDR isn’t turned on before the game is launched. At least on Win 10 I always have to enable HDR manually beforehand. Any workaround?
Are you sure it works in Hitman? For me it says HDR is on in the launcher but in game the HDR badge above the brightness slider isn’t showing up in the (…) menu. Plus the toggle for HDR in the grapics options is missing. On desktop the difference between HDR on and off is very noticiceable.
Jurassic Park The Game by Telltale. The QTE gameplay is aweful but the story and characters are actually pretty good.
Are you going with the 512GB OLED to save money or because you think the 1TB model will look noticeably worse in some way? I also own the Switch OLED and the 512GB LCD Deck and the one scenario where I prefer the anti glare is on black loading screens because I don’t see my own reflection as much, both in bright and low light.
Going off of Taki Udon’s video comparing the Switch OLED with the 1TB Deck I don’t think the colors and saturation will be noticeably different. I heard someone say that the etched glass could make the image a little bit less sharp but with the reduced pixel density on the bigger screen that might actually be a positive.
Anyway, like you said they will both look great. The difference is probably negligible and if you have super bright lights above or behind you it won’t matter if the reflections are diffuse or sharp, haha.
Rockstar showed the first trailer for RDR2 two years and five days before they released the game on consoles. The PC release was one year and ten days after that. If it’s similar to that with GTA6 it’ll be out on PC in Q4 2026. Chances are high that Valve will have released Steam Deck 2 by then and that it’ll be powerful enough to run it.
It works well for me on desktop if I a) turn on HDR in Win 10 manually and b) turn it on in the launcher as well. It looks amazing on my LG CX. I really hope it’s fixable on the Deck (like many other games) through proton or by the devs at some point.
