Pretty remarkable that Joe Burrow’s win % is under 60% and he has a worse record than Jimmy G. I know we all love the guy for the way he turned this sinking ship around, but we give him far too much credit for on the field performance.

While my voice typing is to blame I’m leaning into this and hereafter referring to him as Marinade Murphy.

The New York Times (paywall) has a playoff machine. You can select every game left and see what happens. I’ve done this several times and after the Houston loss the Baltimore game is a must win. It’d still be possible to make the playoffs but they’d need so much help that it’s not practical. The AFC has thus far over-performed to the point that I cannot find a realistic scenario where a 10 win Cincinnati team makes it in. The 8th seed is as high as I can make that happen. It seems the biggest problem with losing yesterday is the Texans remaining schedule makes them now likely to occupy a playoff seed which removes numerous pathways for the Bengals. Even throwing some wild scenarios in like the Ravens or Buffalo dropping 4-5 more still has Cincinnati outside looking in after a Baltimore loss.

If we lose to Baltimore we’ll have the worst record of any of our 7 remaining opponents. This year’s schedule was so back end heavy that winning early was necessary. We won two of our tougher games and pulled out of that nose dive and then gave it all back yesterday. Can they win 6 more games? Sure. Can they lose 6 more games? Absolutely.

Big name, mediocre play. I’d be pissed if we let a 3rd go for 10 games of him. Best trade of the day was by the Jags.
