His rookie year, it wasn’t clear he was on the trajectory of being an MVP caliber player. But he showed he belonged. The thing I remember most about Rodgers’s first year or two was he took a ton of sacks. Dude held onto the ball and was incredibly hesitant to throw the ball. It was frustrating as hell. He also had a rep for being injury prone. Obviously, those two things didn’t end up being an issue. But it wasn’t perfect to start out.
I was never one of those who said he wasn’t the guy. But I also think it’s too early to know for sure one way or another. The past couple weeks have been so much better than the first half of the season, so I’m very optimistic and I’m liking the way this is trending. But we need to see him keep it up. And he’s still under throwing the deep ball. I still hope he’s the guy. And he’s playing better. So I’m optimistic.
For sure! The first half of the season was uuuuuugly—at times we looked like a team that had never practiced together. But past three weeks have been more what I expected/hoped for. I don’t care much about the W/L record this year. But I want to see these young players start to gel. I think we’re seeing that.

I don’t know if we’re “really” close, but we’re seeing improvement. We at least look like an offense that has actually read the playbook and practiced together at least twice, which is a big step forward. We’re a couple of upgrades on the OL from being actually close
Also, can we stop trying to run up the middle from the shotgun on the goalline?
I think it’s time for Murphy to retire. Then it’s time for his replacement to take a hard look at everyone below him.
Gute’s drafting track record has been not great, but the most damning thing he did was extend Rodgers last year and then trade him this year. We could have gotten more draft capital and be in a better cap situation, but he didn’t seem to have a clear plan. I am losing faith in him.
LaFleur might be good at scheming, but it’s hard to tell this year since none of the players seem to know what they’re doing (which suggests bad coaching). You can’t rely on draft & develop if you don’t have coaches good at the development part. And his most damning moment was keeping Joe Barry this offseason (second more damning thing was hiring Joe Barry in the first place). Yes, yes, someone will say “but the offense is the problem” — no, they’re both the problem. Our offense sucking doesn’t give Barry a pass.
Coaching looks bad from top to bottom—the only part of our team that looks competent is special teams.
Wasn’t Van Ness essentially the starting edge rusher, but Iowa has some weird seniority thing where a more experienced player will get the “start” even if it’s just for show?

To all those saying Rodgers injury shields Salah, you haven’t been paying attention. He is under intense fire because of how poorly he has managed the offense (and specifically, the qb position). Wilson has been truly awful. And he has left him in there for how many games (until last week). They have two really really good running backs. Trevor Siamian isn’t a good qb but he could hand the ball off and manage a few throws here and there. Why Tim Boyle is starting (one, much less two games) is almost inexplicable.
Granted, I don’t think Salah gets fired, but I don’t think it would be completely shocking if he does. He never adjusted to the Rodgers injury. With that D and those running backs, they should look at least respectable.
