Probably because there is a nugget of quality and a whole lot of nuggets of attention attraction built into the game. Check out Vampire Survivors sometime, it’s free on Android and it doesn’t have ads (unless you go out of your way to click the button that says “view an ad”). And it was developed by someone who had previously worked at a casino.

Despite being “decentralized,” things are still unilateral at an unprecedented amount and in a centralized way in many communities. If there’s one community moderator, it’s their community. If you delete your comment, they can un-delete it.
Administration works similarly; a community can be viewed across many servers but it’s controlled on only one (welcome to lemm.ee). That gives the admin veto power over any moderators from any server, despite where they’re from.
