  • Nintendo has never attempted to be a graphical competitor to Sony or Microsoft. It wasn’t their MO in the 90s, 00s, 10s, or 20s. Assuming that buying a Nintendo console should put you into a game market that looks like Playstations or Xbox’s is foolhardy. You buy a Nintendo console because you like Nintendo games. Their library is not lacking whatsoever. There are dozens and dozens of quality 1st party titles for the Switch. How you feel about their corporate persona is a different conversation.

  • The 9th generation has largely been a failure. Sales of consoles can be explained by FOMO and mid-pandemic desperation for anything new. The rate at which people are buying games, compared to the rate at which quality AAA games get developed, contrasted by the price of new AAA games, and you are literally choking out the industry. People have never been less interested in graphical fidelity as they are in 2024, and more and more people are becoming familiar with the PC ecosystem having spent a lot of time using one for remote work and school. People are finally starting to understand that digital only games are not a great investment. Games like Minecraft and Fortnite have never been more popular. Interest in the Switch 2 is middling at best. And most people see Xbox’s days being numbered. AMD only wins if people buy more consoles, and at this point, the PS5 pro isn’t really winning anyone over and those that wanted a regular PS5 already have one.

  • Says right on the list that he schedules all of his meetings for the afternoon. The 3 hours of deep unbroken undistracted work in the morning (if he actually is able to pull it off) would definitely be a more productive work day than your average 9-5 office worker. It’s been shown in studies that the 40 hour work week of an average middle manager in an office produces very little value to a company, and is full of useless meetings and distractions that derail concentration.

  • People love to shit on linkedinlunatics (myself included) but people who think that you can get up at 11am, never exercise, never structure your day, and spend all day on lemmy and somehow achieve your goals are just as delusional.

This list might seem crazy to some people (some of the advice is hyper specific to this person’s specific lifestyle) but literally everything is a good idea on it. You don’t become successful at a thing unless you make a plan and structure your day around that priority. Learning how to say no to things is huge. People pleasing is a mental illness. If you have the ability to say no, and you’re not at risk of getting fired or letting down someone you care about, if it doesn’t serve your goals, you say no to it.

I mean, they are. It’s been shown pretty conclusively that smartphones have made people more stupid by decreasing attention spans, putting misinformation on the same level as verifiable fact, manipulating your buying habits, ruining your sleep with blue light, creating more anxiety in youth, and generally being a waste of time. Productivity apps peaked on PC and the scant amount of actual work you can do on a smartphone takes much longer than it would on other platforms.

Still, the post is pretty r/im14andthisisdeep
