Coby White historically hot from 3. What should the Bulls do? Let’s just make sure Vucevic gets to brick some shots instead.

I miss having 5 javontes.
So predictable.
The Bulls starting lineups are -73 to start the game all season. It’s ridiculous. It’s obviously not anything to do with the PF spot. Something needs to be done.
How do you get Coby only 2 4th quarter shots after his first half.
This same lineup closed out the 1st and started the 2nd. They went down 10 points in 4 minutes. Hopefully they don’t do that again…
The positive is that maybe Coby’s bad start is over and he found his shot again. The negative is no one else has found their shot.
Yeah, it doesn’t matter who plays with Vucevic, DeRozan and Vucevic. They are cursed. The lineup with Caruso was +26 in 73 minutes two games ago. Now they are +0 in 30 minutes later 1.5 games later.
Very good point. They are -19 in 32 minutes. No one on the team can generate offense besides those two, it seems. Maybe Coby with Vucevic, but that hasn’t gone well so far. When Carter is playing well, you can also just generate three point shots for him in transition or around screens, but they haven’t tried that at a significant volume.
I also am interested in the Suggs, Isaac, Harris + picks trade with the Magic. Suggs brings the defense & transition playmaking like Lonzo… just sadly not the 3 point shooting. Then you also get some expiring contracts and Isaac can help with the defensive identity in the meantime if he ever plays.
How many long twos are they going to take?
So the two starting lineups are:
White - LaVine - DeRozan - Craig - Vucevic = -59 plus minus and -50 net rating in 52 min
White - LaVine - DeRozan - Williams - Vucevic = -26 plus minus and -18.9 net rating in 64 min
So…
Yeah, I know. It will take a while, especially because Billy has been testing out different lineups each game. I started doing this around the halfway point last season when there was a lot of complaining about Billy’s rotations, but I figured I’d see what tracking it looks like starting from the beginning.
My expectation was that the Bulls would continue to use a DeMar heavy approach when he was on the floor but now surrounded with people who can catch and shoot threes. Zach would then sit early and run the offense with the bench… again surrounded by people who can catch and shoot threes. With a healthy Zach, I think this would have improved the offense this year but not dramatically while also removing any learning curve. Maybe they would try to install more diversity later in the year.
Instead, the Bulls look like they will take a more drastic approach. They seem to be increasing the pace, putting the ball more in Zach and Coby’s hands – even when DeMar is on the floor, trying to have Vucevic make more passes from the elbow, and using DeMar more often as a spot up shooter. The offense should improve over time and as the Bulls shoot 3s closer to their averages, and it’s a decision to make the Bulls more efficient over the long haul… but as you said, this really, really doesn’t fit DeMar naturally.
I’m honestly expecting them to revert after a couple of unsuccessful weeks (while still trying to get up more threes), but I’m hoping the new style improves with DeMar on the court.
I just want another Coby 3
