I’ve mostly travelled within Europe. Paris can be absolutely filthy.

I’d only do this in places I already have an existing right to work personally.
I completely feel this way too. I’ve lived in Amsterdam for nearly 2 years and just feel like I can’t feel at ease here. But I don’t want to give up my good job opportunity. I understand what you’re going through. I think if your mental health requires you to go home there’s nothing wrong with that.
Would love the referral - pm me
Hate to break it to you but fascism is on the rise in Europe too
If you’re into the outdoors what about Banff? Saw lots of people on WHV there. Might be challenging without a car though.
I’m from the Bay Area (an hour south of SF) and live in Amsterdam.
I like Amsterdam, it’s beautiful safe and compact enough where it’s easy to get around. English is widely used. I miss the natural beauty and geography of California, a more open culture (people say the Dutch are tolerant but there’s this thing called “doe normaal” which is to act normal to blend in), and I honestly find Americans friendlier. I miss California produce, food that’s more diverse (especially Mexican and Burmese), mountains and the weather.
I like having stronger workers rights and guaranteed 5 weeks vacation here.
Yes all governments are corrupt to an extent and the rich get richer everywhere even in socialist “utopias” like the NL (source: I live here). Right wing leaders and fascism are also on the rise in many European countries.
Hey I feel the exact same way, from the US living in NL. It’s a struggle.
I felt like this about San Diego, but I got sick of it after 4 years (went there for college). I do think that the neighborhoods I lived in weren’t the greatest though.
