This is actually surprising to hear. Back when they dropped their V Bucks prices in 20% for all platforms I assumed that they renegotiated their revenue share with the platform holders. But no, they always paid 30% lol.
Still curious to see what happens with that one project written by Ryukishi07, though.
I suggest not having high expectations with this one because it’s developed by the same studio that made Resident Evil Resistance and Resident Evil Re:Verse
Worst fear confirmed?
It already was like that in the the beta, we had to launch the COD HQ to launch the game.
was annoying and took longer than it should, sure. But worst fear? Don’t think so
People were getting temp banned before that because they made too many transactions during sales…
This was a vastly overblown issue, considering that less than ten players had this problem back then
Fortnite was funding everything that Epic did for a good time, like their game publisher, store, new HQ, acquisitions, lawsuits, but their problems started when they decided to change their business model to a different system, the Creator Economy, where Epic gives a share of their revenue to developers who makes stuff for Fortnite. And they got kinda reckless with their fortnite cash at the same time where they deliberately decided to make less money, which led to their layoffs and divesting the stuff that never made sense in first place, like the Bandcamp acquisition
Epic will never surprass Steam or anything and they probably know that, but they already cemented their place at the PC market just like GOG and Game Pass, and the next few years sounds more promising than ever because of their publishing branch (alan wake 2 was a great start)
Many people doesn’t have any issues with using their store since most of the complaining is just a vocal minority console warring for free game launchers, but they just need a better management, since they’re constantly improving their app while also transitioning their store to more healthier strategies that doesn’t involve spending millions on exclusive games. They’re still in growth model and expecting to be profitable in 2027 so we’ll see if they’re going to be more careful from now on, or still act like they did in the past lol.
Someone probably wrongly changed the “released” setting for the incorrect steam listing. To send review copies they need to generate keys for a specific listing with a setting that overrides whatever the current public release state is, for example
Epic Games isn’t a small company but I’m sure that it’s not easy to beat stuff like Spider-Man, Mario and Call of Duty in marketing, specially when we’re talking about a niche series like Alan Wake
It was well marketed enough imo in the sense of press interviews and trailers, we had a lot of previews a few weeks ago. AW also made the Alone in the Dark reboot developers delay their game just to avoid this launch window with extremely big series and another horror game
CEOs don’t need to be my friend. Phil is loved by gamers but in reality Xbox has been bizarrely poorly managed in so many different aspects for years now. They have all the PR, the money and mainly the lobbying machine of the world but they still can’t make people actually care about their platform. Maybe Microsoft needs a guy that actually can do his job like Jim Ryan instead?
Indie games are failing on Steam because big AAA games are available at the store? How this game is even competing at Game Pass then, since they’re sharing the same subscription as massive AAA titles like Starfield? They’re on Switch too. They’re competing with Mario and yet somehow most of their revenue came from Nintendo…
