  • It used to be that if you were injured but ranked about 80 you’d enter a major and collect the cheque in singles and doubles, because you have to, and grit out a loss while injured.

If you want the quickest completed match you need to eliminate outliers.

~Should be since 1950. That’s when the modern era of tennis started to spark into life.

    ~Eiminate tanking or injuries

Margaret Court won the 1963 Eastern Grass Court Championships crown in a record 24-minute match against Darlene Hard, 6–1, 6–1.

Steffi Graf demolished Zvereva 0 and 0 in 32 minutes.

During Wimbledon 1969, Sue Tutt beat Marion Boundy 6–2, 6–0 in 20 minutes

In the men’s game since 1968 there have been 18 triples bagels. The last was was Emilio Gomez vs Adam Hornby in a 2016 Davis Cup match.

Steffi Graf is the only ever person to win 24 straight games without loss at majors.

Krejcikova wins another major this year.

Pegula makes the singles final of a major.

Swiatek doesn’t win any major she hasn’t already won.

Azarenka wins a big title somewhere, possibly Miami.

    Give me Iga for RG.

Give me Jana Jabeur winning Wimbledon.

Coco Gauff makes it back to back finals in hardcourt majors.

  • This is a WTA tour that allowed Marketa Vondrousova to win Wimbledon.

This is a WTA tour without Ash Barty or Serena.

    She’s 1-0 vs Sabalenka and Krejcikova. She’s 1-1 with Iga. She’s 1-0 vs Ons.

I’d take 85 per cent Naomi on a hardcourt against any other player right now. On paper anyway.

She’s defending zero points. She’ll build her way back up to peak from June through to April next year.

Let’s say she does win the US and makes a deep run in Australia 2025. Let’s throw in a couple of Asian titles where she does well.

The draw falls apart in Indian Wells and lots of people lose points. She wins.

Then she only has to make the semifinals in Miami to be number one.

    Does that sound feasible?
