  • Goff (6’4", 217) and Kirk Cousins (6’3", 205) are cut from the same cloth. Slow footed statues with good arms and size, and questionable decision making. They have good receivers that make them look great at times. They’ll win some games and look fantastic at times, but can be rattled and exposed by a competent opposing defensive scheme.

You see the exact same criticisms of Cousins on the Vikings board as you see against Goff here. Dobbs play has made Cousins look totally expendable, and not worth the money in this modern iteration of the NFL. The Lions have a very hard time containing mobile QBs. The Vikes will be a nightmare for us, that we have to play twice still.

The 49ers traded for Chase Young, which the Lions should have done. Just like they traded for CMC last year. They don’t sit still. The Vikings traded for Dobbs. We trade for Donovan Peoples Jones. LOLOL. Why? We didn’t need another receiver, we needed defensive help.

Anyway, RG3 was saying in the pregame show that the old school pocket passer is antiquated in the modern NFL. He’s right. Mobility and smart decision making can make up for offensive line flaws and injuries. And it gives the opposing D fits. Goff in no way should be signed to an extension here. NO WAY. He’s not god-awful, but we don’t need to sign a guy that’s just gonna get slower with age.

  • Well, I don’t necessarily blame Johnson, as he’s designed a very good, unique, explosive offense, but I DO lay a lot of blame on Goff. He’s been awful the last few games. Too many turnovers. Poor decision making. No athleticism. He’s Kirk Cousins, basically. Sure, he has an arm, and he had a nice long ball security streak at the end of 22 coming into this season, but he’s reverting back to the player that LA was happy to get rid of. But Bridgewater certainly isn’t a realistic option, so we’re stuck with Goff this year unless he gets hurt. Maybe Hooker will show something whenever he finally gets a chance, now that he’s basically recovered. Next year, I guess, at least that’s what Campbell has said, unless he changes his mind and puts the kid on the 53-man.
