  • I mean, I’m not saying PayPal and apps needing whatever play store check are shit, but… Oh, wait, I am saying they’re shit 😝

    Anyways, let’s try again. Yeah, librem kinda sucks, but mostly in terms of hardware, availability, and their situation with not delivering on time and not returning the money.

    Yeeeeah, nope. Seriously, all the ways of age verification suck 'cause age verification itself sucks.

    1. It’s unmaintainable for both websites and browsers (there’ll always be sites that say “fuck it”, and there’ll always be people to remove those checks from the browsers);
    2. It gives personal info to the entities that have no business handling it;
    3. [For sites] that would not leak the info: would you like an unsalted md5 with that?

    What’s the alternative? To not fucking verify the age. I’m really confused how even normies aren’t tired of that “protecting the kids” bullshit. Oh, they’re worried? How about trying to be a better fucking parent so that their kids don’t hesitate to talk to them about stuff or at least setting up parental control software.

  • That’s why you change the repos, tho, instead of mixing those from arch and manjaro, and do overwrites to avoid trouble with their configs. Also, I have a feeling pacman tells you when a package managed by it is no longer in the repos, so you just remove it to not accidentally take part in another round of ddos-ing aur or whatever manjaro’s packages currently do for fun.

    As for why, that’s just to avoid setting up everything from scratch

  • Allrighty, let’s try turning it into “helping”. When one finds themselves using manjaro, they should:

    1. Prepare a flash drive with recent arch iso flashed (that shouldn’t be strictly necessary, but just in case);
    2. Go to the pacman’s mirrorlist and replace their repos with the proper ones (i.e. from arch);
    3. Do a -Syyuu base --overwrite=*;
    4. (optional) In case of trouble, boot to the drive flashed at step 0, make necessary mounts, arch-chroot, solve the problems. One can also try pacstrap-ing instead.

    This is a rather high-level overview off the top of my head, and one would likely have to make a few tweaks here and there. Still, I hope it helps :)

    As a person with ADHD, I can’t say nicotine by any means reduces anxiety or helps to focus; on the contrary, the only time I don’t vape for prolonged periods of time are when I’m concentrated on smth challenging, and otherwise it’s somewhat like tapping my leg or spinning a pen with the addition of feeling worse when there’s not enough nicotine in my body.

    On the other hand, ADHD individuals are more susceptible to substance abuse disorders, so going in that craphole is not worth it. (e.g. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41386-019-0581-7)

  • What are your thoughts on paperwm so far compared to more traditional tiling WMs?

    I’m more of a Wayland person, so I’ve been thinking about trying out niri for a while now. I kinda like their nix flake and sloc-count (which make me think the dev(s) are pretty competent) and have used said flake as a reference for trying out a few other Wayland compositors written in rust on nixos so far, but the idea of scrollable tiling overall seems weird, so I’m hesitant to try it out myself rn :/
