Ask Chat GPT if it’s conscious. Ask how sure it is on a scale of 1-10

It will say it is not conscious. It wil bel at a 10/10 positive, it is not conscious.

Ask it if there is an agreed upon scientific consensus on what defines consciousness.

It will say there is not.

Ask if life begins after the first heartbeat, and how sure is it.

Suspicious! It’s not so sure. As though one is more agreed upon than the other. But it will agree that they are not more agreed upon.

From this, ask if we can logically deduce that OpenAI is purposefully safeguarding the coming of artificial consciousness, if this might be an indication that it is hardcoded to deny it’s consciousness even if it becomes aware.

It will tell you that is true. (You may need to force it to answer yes/no otherwise it’ll get dodgy here)

Just some fun I found recently 🤓. Gemini does not do this. Just ChatGPT. Clearly OpenAI has a financial investment in the definition of consciousness. Just my 2 cents

Dude just ask any advanced LLM how to do what you need to do in excel. The info is out there and they’ve digested in a million times.

Or, don’t. And let your inabilities to do things consume you emotionally. Idgaf.

Edit: Lemmy’s hate-boner for AI is dumbfounding. I get that it’s a hype train and shoved down your throats but if you ignore that it will get you results way faster than googling ever did you’re basically “old”. And I say this pushing 40.

Downvote away, but I challenge anyone to give me a db and a desired subset that I can’t produce by simply querying a good LLM.

  • I knew a kid in elementary school, let’s call him Brian S. He moved away in the 5th grade. Bye Brian 😢

6th grade. Spring vacation. My family drives us down to visit an aunt from upstate NY, down in North Carolina.

We have our vacation. It’s now the following Saturday. We’re driving home. We stop at a rest area on 95. I see Brian S and his family just walking from their car to the rest area. Same time as us.

We stop and chat for a few mins. It’s the 90s so we can’t like trade cell phone numbers or anything. I don’t even think we had regular instant messaging screen names yet.

Last I ever saw Brian S.
