  • My conclusion is a combination of mental pressure (or lack of a proper mindset) and coaching. Maybe a little physical fatigue. I put most of it on the coaching staff to keep them mentally prepared and having a game plan that matches up against our opponents.

It’s a simple game plan. Starts with fundamental blocking and tackling. Goff needs more protection. Rushing game needs blocks. Defense needs to pressure opposing QBs. Keep it simple. Divisional games are huge.

  • I agree. I love Dan Campbell as much as anyone. But this is entirely on him. I know there were a lot of problems all the way around. BUT, you have to put your guys in a position to win. And they would’ve been in it right to the end if not for that fake punt.

Make your gamble in NO or Denver or Dallas. Not against a division rival at this point in the season. That was a dumb call and he needs to own it.

It’s always interesting how things shape up in the second half of the season. Young players gain maturity. Injuries happen. And just playing tough games takes a toll. Also teams learn how to match up against each other. Obviously the two games against Vikings are critical for the division. We’ll sweep either the packers or bears, maybe both. We absolutely cannot drop both games vs Minnesota. And I don’t think we will. Cowboys will be a tough game.

The thing that’s hard to predict is the mentality of the players. They can’t lose focus, get distracted or take anything for granted from here on out. This is on the coaching staff. Also things get tougher as other teams start to figure out our schemes, strengths and weaknesses. Again, it’s on the leadership to stay creative. Players gotta show up and play. But coaches gotta put them in a position to win.
