Scottie being -20 was big. Last 5-6 games he’s looked like last year’s SB - making bone headed plays. Always sucks losing the winnable games. Last play was a matter of poorly drawn up ATO.

You might get 5-8 games from Jakob like he did against the Pistons - other than that, he’s not anything life changing. $20m is steep for him but at this point its somewhat refreshing to know we have someone not named Scottie Barnes signed past this summer Lol. Lot of the issues currently with him also surround the shit shooting we have out on the floor which makes spacing tough for him and ends up with congested lanes. He’s not the worst part about this roster - if we want to start somewhere, get rid of Precious/McDaniels/Garett Temple/Otto and then find out what the plan is with GTJ b/c he looks like he’s not really bought into this system and his play is showing it.
Masai needs to read this post, heck tattoo Zach’s comments on his forehead ffs. How are we that bad from 3 AND mid-range with guys like Scottie and Pascal. Pascal is doing all he can and he’s trying his best to buy in - I highly respect him for it. GTJ is just weird, dude’s choking big time every game. Flynn/Precious/McDaniels ass. I am still clueless why we don’t bring some guys like Javon Freeman-Liberty from the g league over here. Like what the fuck is McDaniels or Otto or Garrett Temple giving us??? Might as well give JFL some minutes and see what he gives you. Heck, at this rate might as well give Markell a try too. Bench is abysmal and you can tell Scottie is just frustrated half the time b/c he’s trying to get the ball moving but other guys just want to get theirs. This roster is NOT built for 0.5. Hate to say it, at the very least, Nick Nurse did a damn good job making sure guys didn’t turn the ball over - and now even in that department we’re trash.
When you watch the Timerberwolves, Kings, Thunder, Pacers, and even the Rockets to some extent - the main thing is the chemistry and trust level came from multiple personnel changes until the puzzle pieces fit right. Masai is trying to jam together forcefully a team under the guise of ‘retooling’ and its just not working. So many guys on this team just want theirs and its just a big overall shit show of poor drafting, asset management (picks/contracts).

Typical storyline, Masai is overly affectionate of a player that should not be on the roster but has hope said player will blossom into a tremendous spark plug or incredible MIP arch. Precious by far is the one player who just doesn’t fit AT ALL.
On a larger level, if you look at the Magic, Rockets, Kings, Pacers - there’s so much chemistry and trust. Then there’s our team which lacks trust big time, it’s just a bunch of guys trying to get theirs and that’s not ever going to propel the TEAM forward.

It’s pretty cool to see a player geniunely improve in real time with more opportunity provided for him. I don’t think he got fair or high leverage opportunities with NN - but that’s different with DR. Albeit, we had both OG/GTJ out tonight so that plays a huge role in him closing the game out; but you can definitely tell the team supports him, and Flynn is playing with an edge and sense of urgency to really secure a future in this league. Still ways to go, but the more reps he gets and the more high leverage non-garbage time minutes he gets against the opposing team’s starters the better he actually gets and in turn we can have a great backup guard for Dennis.
You’re hating big time. He only had 3 attempts. If you watched the game at all, you’d have noticed he was very active on defense disrupting plays and hustling everywhere trying to get loose balls.
I’m not sure if it was the nerves but the only negative (for me) this game was seeing Gradey Dick pass up great looks in transition to shoot the ball and instead drive baseline and get out muscled or go for a crazy reverse lay up. Hopefully next game and onwards he lets the ball fly, only way we (and him) can see if he can be an NBA sniper is actually let the ball fly and be a bit more selective when to put the ball down on the floor. I respect the willingness to make an extra pass, but we drafted him to be our best shooter.
Hopefully he picks it up, I’ve seen nothing but great things to look forward to from Jordan Hawkins (the dude we were supposed to pick and was graded a better player) lol. Great calmness and tangible play on the court for the Pels while our guy is brick city - he has to get it together.
