Actually I started watching them 2 seasons prior when they made the playoffs for the first time in 10 years. I was like “these guys seem cool”. But watching them in this game really sealed the deal.

In 1993 I started watching hockey and following the Sharks. The year prior they had the worst record ever. No idea they would make the playoffs and beat the #1 seed red wings and go to game 7 in the second round. They actually led that series 3-2 and lost game 6 in OT. So close to making the conference finals. IIRC the sharks were the first 8th seed to ever beat a 1st seed.
