Maemo on Nokia N900 was awesome. But even before Microsoft Nokia and Intel decided to rewrite a perfectly working phone OS from scratch and stopped development for years while trying to build Meego. At the time android didn’t have multi-tasking, but on Maemo you could play a video on vlc on the background, and it kept playing while switching windows, inside the list of little windows. It used qt for ui and you could even write native looking apps in python. It had full access to the camera api, people were writing crazy scriptable camera apps for the thing, such as the frankencamera. Why would you throw away a perfectly working os and waste time trying to rewrite the exact same thing for years Nokia!? why!? it could have been an actual Linux phone revolution years ago. and no, I don’t think Android is already Linux phone. fight me.
arch with gnome. arch because pacman and AUR, gnome because I messed around with tiling window managers for an unnecessarily long time but I don’t have infinite time to customize and personalize every aspect of my computer and map every action to a keyboard shortcut and memorize them :) I need to det stuff done. I sort of forced myself into using the least amount of customization. that’s why not KDE.

LG with WebOS but it is disconnected form network. I am using a Xiaomi 4K Android TV Box.
This is really sad but true. My friend was called back to office. He is a copy writer for an ad agency and he has literally zero reasons to go back, except they put it to vote and most copy writers wanted to go back to office, because they had no other ways to socialize.
I have installed smarttube on my android tv. it has adblock and sponsor block.
I agree with all of your points, but I am learning a lot on a very diverse set of topics from YouTube. There are some amazing people making educational videos there. The most time consuming stuff I watch is “let’s play” videos. I kind of let them play in the backgrounds sometimes to relax, like white noise.
I used to think that too but at least historicaly, if the problem is the system itself then there are no ways to solve the problem from within the system. see French revolution. The problems of feudalism couldn’t have been solved by following the law. I am not calling for violence or anything like that. Just pointing out it hasn’t been that simple, just categorically opposing any form of violence, throughout history. If the current system continues on its trajectory, soon there won’t be anything legal left for the masses to do. So not “it should happen” but “it will inevitably happen”, it being violent revolution.
social democracies are trying to slowly adapt the situation, let’s hope it will be enough.
in feudal times ordinary people would have wanted to be a king or a lord, it doesn’t make it right and it doesn’t mean they didn’t want, fought for, and died for a revolution.
maybe they are talking about public toilets on the streets. not in restaurants. like the ones that clean themselves in Paris.
then it’s no longer capitalism.
The web page says other libraries implement units whereas they implement dimensions. 1 cm and 1 inch has the same dimension, namely length, and you are able to add them together and get a correct result. seems nice. I don’t know if it’ll have any practical benefit but I like it.
They don’t want to be a cuttlefish jizmopper. They want to be a cuddlefish jizmopper. Much cozier species.
