Unlike chess, which is an open information game, dota is a closed information / partially open information game. Kinda like poker.
A good Dota player will know AS MUCH as possible in a game. Basically playing on information assymetry. This is why mechanically okay players still do extremely well in Dota.
When you’re playing at the top, the amount of information you’re processing is absolutely crazy. A LOT of it is heuristics or system 1 thinking which builds up over years of grinding. But in “clutch” moments, your information assymetry vs the other team is so high that it is almost open information, i.e. you comprehend all the information POSSIBLE to comprehend in that moment.
Like a 200D chess game and you know exactly what moves need to be made in each dimension to beat the opposite player. This is why players like nightfall know not just what they need to do, but what EVERYONE needs to do AT ALL TIMES to win the game.
From there on, it is just trust that all 5 players are reading the 200D chess board the same and the best possible move will be executed by all the players simultaneously.
If you look at it from this mental model, it makes sense when players say “We had the same ideas about the game”. And when players disagree. They’re seeing the 200D chess board differently. One of them will most likely have more information than the other though.
I doubt her gender is relevant here, but sure.
